NAME
CHANGE:
Duncan's Almost Ace has changed the name of hole 11 from "Hangover
Ridge" back to its originally-proposed-but-(at-the-time)-overly-dramatic
name of "Heartbreak Ridge".
BOTANY:
According to the locals, Green Park was a 19th-century Rothschild
arboretum of sorts, and evidence of this still exist in its
massive and beautiful cedars, beeches, weeping things (1st
fairway), and many lovely trees whose names are as yet unknown
to me, but I anticipate learning.
AIRCRAFT:
Being 1/4 mile from an airfield has its advantages at Green
Park. While you are busy getting discs to exploit the Bernoulli
Principle, there are countless aircraft doing the same thing
a couple of hundred feet over your head. My non-planespotting
eye noticed gliders, motorised gliders, biplanes, ultralights,
and a WWII-ish plane.
PUB:
Down the Rising Sun, they were very happy to see 18 hungry
and thirsty golfers, and wanted to know when we'd be back
(imagine that!) I ate probably the best burger I've ever had.
DARTS:
Spencer is a machine. Consider yourself warned.
